Ode to Connectivity

Connectivity, Connectivity,
Why are you such the irritating mystery?
You thrash us to and fro,
Knocking us out in vicious throws.
By now, I thought you would discover,
the needs - already uncovered.
But instead we continue to wait,
and wait,
and wait,
and wait,
distribution seems way too late.
We are bound by your limitations,
will you be ready by Holiday Vacation?
What is standing in your way;
the mobiles, the server, the electronic highway.
We need several miracles here
to get this thing going, get it in gear!!
As we wait, and wait, and wait,
for Thursday  -  the magical date.
Stress Test - Yes, it was!

STAY TUNED!!!
(Distribution to 6th Grade Thursday, September 12th)

  1. Joy, it's your friendly neighborhood IT tech again :-) If you are having problems getting connected to WiFi period, Go into the Wifi menu (where you choose what network to connect to), and touch the Options/Menu softkey, go to Advanced and look for Wifi Frequency, make sure it's set to Auto. If you're having other issues, feel free to reply...

  2. So here is my non-tech understanding of what is going on. All of the tablets and other wifi devices(laptops) etc. go down a highway to a downtown GCS server. The highways are experiencing a lot more traffic than originally anticipated (8-9 per tablet vs. the originally anticipated 1) and, in effect, activating the firewall and kicking connections out. GCS and Amplify are diligently working to solve this issue, while still keeping the students safely connected. By late this afternoon, it seemed that most tablets were connecting, although responding slowly.
    Thanks for the comment!!

  3. So they are able to connect to the wifi, but the bandwidth was just too much. Glad to hear they are getting it sorted out, even if they should have anticipated that.
